I recently attended an Advanced soft tissue therapy masterclass’ at the prestigious Oxford University under the tutelage of renowned Osteopath John Gibbons. The course is designed for all manual therapists such as physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and sports injury therapists to learn advanced myofascial techniques focussing on the area of the lower lumbar spine, specific shoulder problems and neck pain as well as other areas of the body. The course was fantastic, it as paced well and had plenty of hands on practical sessions. I really feel that I can apply these techniques into my repertoire of soft tissue skills so that I may successfully treat more patients with a variety of musculo-skeletal problems.Another bonus of the course was getting to meet therapists from different backgrounds sharing their experiences and skills. On my particular course there was a Physio who flew from Brazil to attend. If you have the opportunity to enrol on one of Johns courses I would snap it up as you will not be disappointed.
